Rajnath Singh, CM Naidu lay foundation stone for AMCA project in Andhra Pradesh

The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project in Andhra Pradesh received a major boost after President Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for a flight testing center at Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district on Friday, May 15. The facility will support development and testing activities for the AMCA programme. The testing center will involve an estimated investment of 15,000 INR-Crore.

The proposed center will support testing for fifth-generation stealth aircraft platforms. Additionally, authorities announced multiple defence manufacturing projects during the event. A consortium of eight drone companies will establish a Drone City in Kurnool. Further, the foundation stone was laid for a 480 INR-Crore naval systems manufacturing facility by Bharat Dynamics Limited at Tirupati. The project will manufacture advanced underwater weapons and naval combat systems. A defence energy facility by Aeroforge will also be developed with an investment of around 1,500 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, HCL Limited will establish an ammunition and electric fuse manufacturing unit involving an investment of approximately 1,200 INR-Crore.

The AMCA project Andhra Pradesh and associated defence investments will strengthen aerospace and defence manufacturing infrastructure in the state. The projects will support indigenous defence production and expand industrial activity across Andhra Pradesh.
