Center sanctions 290 INR-Crore road projects for Ganjam town

The Government of India has sanctioned the Ganjam road projects in Odisha with a total investment of 290 INR-Crore. The approval was announced on Thursday, April 9. The projects aim to improve urban road infrastructure in Ganjam town and surrounding areas.

The project includes the development of a 6.72 Km bypass road connecting NH-157 and NH-59. It will be built as a two-lane corridor with two flyovers and one underpass. Authorities have allocated 159.5 INR-Crore for the bypass, including 37.43 INR-Crore for land acquisition. Additionally, the scope includes the construction of high-level bridges over the Rushikulya and Badanadi rivers, along with a bridge over the Tipisara nullah, at a cost of 126.5 INR-Crore. These bridges will be developed under the Setu Bandhan scheme for 2025–26. Further, the Center has sanctioned 0.66 INR-Crore for preparing a DPR for a 33 Km four-lane road from Berhampur to Aska.

Once implemented, the Ganjam road projects will enhance mobility and reduce congestion in the region. They will also support urban infrastructure growth and improve connectivity across Ganjam.
