Delhi PWD plans flyovers and underpasses to decongest key road stretches

The Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the Delhi road decongestion project to ease traffic across key stretches in South and North Delhi. The department has floated tenders for the development of flyovers and underpasses. The project will target major congestion points across approximately 34 Km of road network.

The plan includes a 9 Km stretch at Mehrauli–Mahipalpur Road near Aruna Asaf Ali Road. Authorities will construct a flyover, an underpass, and a U-turn facility at this location. Another 6 Km stretch between Kanti Nagar and Telco T-point will also see a new flyover. Additionally, a 9 Km stretch on Bawana Road will be upgraded with flyover infrastructure. The department will conduct a feasibility study for a 10 Km corridor from Kanjhawala Chowk to Mangolpuri at a cost of 3.44 INR-Crore. Further, studies worth 7.30 INR-Crore will assess corridor improvements, including flyovers and underpasses. These studies will include traffic surveys, cost-benefit analysis, and environmental assessments.

The Delhi road decongestion projects will improve traffic flow across major corridors. It will also enhance connectivity and support urban mobility planning in the national capital.
