The Union Government has approved two national highway expansion projects in Kerala and Rajasthan with an estimated combined investment of 3,022.48 INR-Crore. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced an estimated 1,663.15 INR-Crore for widening a 54.37 Km section of NH-183 between Kollam Bypass Junction and Anjilimoodu in Kerala. Additionally, the Center approved 1,359.33 INR-Crore for the four-laning of the 106.85 Km Nagaur–Bikaner section of NH-62 in Rajasthan.
The Kerala project will upgrade the existing NH-183 corridor into a four-lane highway. The 54.37 Km stretch connects Kollam Bypass Junction and Anjilimoodu. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan project will widen the existing two-lane NH-62 corridor to four lanes. The 106.85 Km route passes through Gogelao, Nokha, Rasisar, Deshnok and Palana. It will create a continuous four-lane link between Nagaur and Bikaner.

The Kerala Rajasthan highway upgrades are expected to improve freight movement and regional connectivity. In Kerala, the corridor will strengthen access to Kollam Port and support industries linked to cashew processing, coir, ceramics, fisheries and rare earth minerals. Further, the upgraded route will improve connectivity to major tourism destinations. In Rajasthan, the project will facilitate smoother passenger and commercial traffic movement between key district centers.
