Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has laid the foundation stone for the Vardhman-Aichi steel forging plant in Punjab. The project involves an estimated investment of 1,116 INR-Crore. Vardhman Special Steels is developing the facility in partnership with Japan’s Aichi Steel. The plant will manufacture high-value automobile components for domestic and international markets.
The Vardhman-Aichi steel forging plant will comprise a forging and machining unit. The project will be developed in two phases with a planned investment of around 1,100 INR-Crore. Initially proposed at 500 INR-Crore, the investment increased to 1,116 INR-Crore before construction commenced. The facility will introduce Japanese forging technology to Punjab. Additionally, it will manufacture precision-engineered automobile components for India, Europe, ASEAN, Africa, and Mexico. The project is expected to generate direct employment for more than 500 people.

The Vardhman-Aichi steel forging plant will strengthen Punjab’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem. Furthermore, the facility will support the state’s automobile components and engineering sectors.
