Tata Power will begin construction of its solar manufacturing plant in Odisha in October this year. The greenfield project involves an estimated investment of 6,600 INR-Crore. The company has secured the required land for the facility. It is also completing environmental, water, and other statutory approvals. The project will manufacture photovoltaic wafers and ingots with a planned capacity of 10 GW.
The Tata Power Odisha solar manufacturing plant will be developed in two phases of 5 GW each. The first phase is scheduled to become operational in January 2028. The second phase will follow around six months later. The facility will manufacture photovoltaic wafers and ingots, completing Tata Power’s backward integration across the solar manufacturing value chain. The company stated that its existing 4.3 GW cell and module plant will continue operating at full capacity without expansion.
