Minister Gadkari announces 3,214 INR-Crore highway projects for Meghalaya

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for highway projects worth an estimated 3,214 INR-Crore during the North East Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition in New Shillong, Meghalaya. The package includes four National Highway projects and the upgradation of two road corridors. The projects aim to strengthen road connectivity across the state.

The approved package includes the 7.76 Km Pynursla Bypass on NH-206 with an investment of 564 INR-Crore. It also includes the 31.7 Km Selsella–Goeragre Road project on NH-206 valued at 504 INR-Crore. Additionally, the government will develop the 29 Km access-controlled Tura Bypass on NH-217 at a cost of 951 INR-Crore. The package also covers the upgradation of a 10.67 Km section of the Shillong–Dawki Road for 351 INR-Crore and the improvement of the 5.44 Km Jowai Bypass for 106 INR-Crore.

The Meghalaya highway projects are expected to enhance regional connectivity and improve road infrastructure across key corridors. The new bypasses and upgraded highway sections will strengthen transport links within the state and with neighboring regions. Further, the projects will support smoother movement of passenger and commercial traffic across Meghalaya.
