Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI) is set to invite bids for a nuclear island engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package for the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan nuclear power project. The package is estimated at over 28,000 INR-Crore. ASHVINI, a joint venture between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) and NTPC Ltd, will implement the project. The development marks the first nuclear power project under the NPCIL-NTPC joint venture model.
The EPC package covers four indigenous 700 MW pressurised heavy water reactor (PHWR) units. It includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, civil construction, installation, testing and commissioning support for the nuclear island systems. The project will add 2,800 MW of nuclear power generation capacity. It will also expand opportunities for domestic equipment manufacturers and engineering companies.
