Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced approval for the development of NH-10 in Sikkim. The project is estimated to cost 993.64 INR-Crore and will be developed between Rangpo and Ranipool.
The NH-10 corridor will be a 2-lane highway with major engineering works planned to improve safety and resilience in the Himalayan terrain of Sikkim. The project will include construction of tunnels, viaducts, bridges and cut-and-cover sections. Additionally, it will have comprehensive slope protection measures to address vulnerable sliding and sinking zones.

The latest announcement comes after National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) initiated procurement for the development of the Rangpo and Ranipool stretch. This section is an essential part of NH-10, providing an important road link between Sikkim and other parts of the country.
