The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and COEP Technological University have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish an Advanced Ergonomics and Human Factors Research Center (AEHFRC) at COEP Tech’s Research and Innovation Park in Chikhali, Pune. The estimated investment for this project is 105 INR-Crore.
AEHFRC Pune will sprawl an anticipated 38,000 SqFt, and will be executed in 2 phases. The first phase will focus on facilities for posture evaluation, seating comfort analysis, human biomechanics studies, and field of vision assessment. This phase will be implemented over two to three years. Meanwhile, a full-scale AEHFRC will be developed in the second phase over four to five years.

The AEHFRC will cater to sectors including automotive, defence, aerospace, railways, construction, and industrial equipment in Pune. The center will add a specialised research facility to the city’s industrial and technology infrastructure pipeline, with applications spanning multiple engineering-led sectors.
