The Gupta Residence is a 4,000 SqFt four-bedroom apartment located in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Designed by P S Design Studio, the home reflects the lifestyle of a young and dynamic couple. It balances contemporary design with artisanal craftsmanship, creating a residence that functions as a private retreat, an entertainment venue, and a productive home office.
The design adopts a restrained approach while introducing bold moments through color, texture, and carefully curated details. As a result, every space feels refined, personal, and functional.
Design Language at Gupta Residence
The design team envisioned a modern home with clean lines and minimal visual clutter. At the same time, they introduced artisanal elements to add warmth and individuality. White walls and ash oak wood establish a neutral foundation throughout the apartment. Bespoke wallpapers, curated furniture, and statement artworks introduce color and texture without overwhelming the interiors. Consequently, each room contributes to a cohesive design narrative while maintaining its own identity.

Arrival Experience and Foyer
The arrival experience begins at the lift lobby, where a tropical wallpaper by Kalakaari Haath creates a relaxed atmosphere. A woven cane bench, matching chair, and potted greenery reinforce the handcrafted character of the entrance. The front door and adjoining walls feature ash oak veneer, establishing material continuity from the outset. Inside, the foyer introduces layered materiality through a screen composed of wicker, wood, and brass. This feature gently conceals the living area while offering subtle glimpses of the ocean views beyond.
Living and Dining Spaces at Gupta Residence
The expansive living room encourages relaxation and conversation. A forest green L-shaped sofa anchors the space, while bespoke rugs, vibrant artworks, and ash oak ceiling detailing introduce depth and visual interest. A multifunctional TV wall combines open shelving with concealed storage. The design uses the same white wallpaper as the surrounding walls, ensuring uninterrupted visual continuity.

The wall-mounted bar cabinet serves as the focal point of the living area. Designed in collaboration with Rooshad Shroff, the cabinet showcases his signature thread work and resembles a piece of art when closed. Once opened, it reveals a lacquered turquoise blue interior that creates a striking visual contrast. A matching bar console completes the composition.
The dining area introduces a vibrant personality. An avocado green dining table pairs with rust-colored chairs against a monochrome Pierre Frey wallpaper backdrop. Sculptural wall sconces by Kelly Wearstler and Visual Comfort further elevate the setting.
Private Spaces and Personalized Interiors
The master suite functions as a private retreat. It incorporates a comfortable lounge, dedicated workstations, and concealed wiring solutions to support work-from-home requirements. A rust-colored sofa and sage green ceiling introduce warmth, while a geometric rug sourced from Morocco adds a personal touch.
A walk-in closet connects seamlessly to the sleeping area. Tone-on-tone Pierre Frey wallpaper creates a calm atmosphere and continues into the closet lobby in a deeper shade. Softly curved ceiling details reinforce the serene environment. A commissioned painting by a Balinese artist further personalizes the space.

The master bathroom introduces dramatic contrast through bold black-and-white veined marble behind the vanity. Meanwhile, white subway tiles provide a clean and graphic finish within the shower area. The guest bedroom adopts a different design language. Nostalgic cement flooring references the couple’s previous home, while green silk wallpaper introduces richness. A black-and-white headboard complements the monochrome flooring, creating visual continuity.
Functional Kitchen and Cohesive Design
The kitchen combines practicality with playful design. Blue cabinetry establishes a vibrant character, while a white subway tile backsplash and black-and-white checkered flooring reinforce its contemporary appeal. Throughout the residence, carefully layered tones, materials, and textures create a cohesive environment. Every design decision contributes to a home that feels youthful, artistic, and deeply personal.
The Gupta Residence demonstrates how contemporary minimalism can coexist with artisanal craftsmanship. Rather than relying on excess, the design uses curated materials, bespoke elements, and thoughtful spatial planning to create warmth and individuality. Designed by P S Design Studio, the Gupta Residence delivers a balanced living environment that responds to modern lifestyles while celebrating creativity, functionality, and timeless design.
