Sattva,Mumbai | The Blue Wall Studio

Sattva is a 1,800 SqFt high-rise residence located in Tardeo, Mumbai. Designed by The Blue Wall Studio under the leadership of Vidhi Duggad Bhagat, the project responds directly to its setting. It captures sweeping 360-degree views of the city skyline merging with the Arabian Sea.

The design recognises the rarity of this vantage point. Therefore, it focuses on translating the calmness of the horizon into the interiors. Natural light enters consistently, while a steady breeze moves through the home. As a result, the space creates a sense of stillness within the city.

Design Approach at Sattva

The design team approaches Sattva with a restrained material and spatial language. Instead of creating a minimal space, the team layers materials carefully. Each layer reveals itself gradually through light and movement.

As Vidhi Duggad Bhagat explains, the intent was not to make the space feel bare. Instead, the design builds visual calm through deliberate material composition. This approach ensures that textures shift subtly throughout the day, depending on light and occupancy.

Material Palette and Interior Expression

The material palette establishes a calm and cohesive base. Textured paint and Michelangelo marble flooring define the interiors. The marble introduces gentle veining, which creates a soft visual rhythm across the space.

Wood elements add warmth. Plush upholstery enhances comfort and tactility. In contrast, accents of brass, mirror, and glass introduce reflective highlights. These elements catch light and create subtle visual movement without disrupting the overall calm.

Spatial Planning and Layout

A set of double doors opens into the living room, setting the tone for the home. The muted beige palette aligns with the blue tones of the external view. Consequently, the interior feels grounded and meditative. From this central space, the home divides into two wings. One side accommodates the dining area, kitchen, utility spaces, and one ensuite bedroom. The other side includes two additional ensuite bedrooms. This layout ensures clarity in movement and functional zoning.

The living room supports both relaxation and social interaction. Curved furniture and softened edges create a cocooned environment. Meanwhile, the neutral palette shifts with daylight, transitioning from lighter tones in the morning to deeper shades in the evening.

The dining area sits adjacent to the living space. It features a sculptural marble and wood table with upholstered seating. Minimal panelling and controlled daylight create a calm atmosphere. Consequently, the space encourages slow and intentional dining.

The kitchen adopts a functional approach. Clean-lined cabinetry and muted finishes maintain visual continuity while ensuring efficiency.

Private Spaces at Sattva

The bedrooms continue the same restrained design language. This ensures consistency across the home.

In the parents’ bedroom, layered panelling on the bed-back wall introduces depth. It also acts as a subtle visual feature. The daughter’s bedroom, in contrast, relies on large windows as the primary element. Daylight and sheer layers animate the space throughout the day.

Bathrooms feature marble surfaces. The natural veining adds texture while maintaining alignment with the overall material palette.

Sattva emerges as a residence that extends its external environment into the interiors. The design avoids competing with the surrounding views. Instead, it reinforces them through material choices and spatial clarity.

By aligning light, material, and planning, Sattva creates a calm and cohesive living environment. Furthermore, in a dense urban setting like Mumbai, it offers a space where the interior experience remains connected to the horizon.
