Maharashtra Govt approves 89,731 INR-Crore mega projects in high-tech sectors

The Maharashtra Government has approved high-tech sector projects worth an estimated 89,731 INR-Crore across high-technology sectors in the state. The approvals were granted on Tuesday, May 26. The projects span sectors such as solar manufacturing, coal gasification, electrical steel, tyre cord manufacturing and lithium-ion battery materials.

Adani Enterprises Limited will invest 70,000 INR-Crore in Nagpur for an integrated surface coal gasification and downstream derivatives project. Meanwhile, Akshat Greentech Private Limited will invest 12,500 INR-Crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for a solar cells, modules, ingots and wafers manufacturing facility. Additionally, Graphite India Limited will develop a synthetic graphite anode material facility for lithium-ion batteries in Nashik with an investment of 4,651 INR-Crore. HS Hyosung India Pvt. Ltd. will invest 1,740 INR-Crore in Nagpur for a tyre cord manufacturing plant. Further, NLMK India Coating Pvt. Ltd. will establish a grain-oriented electrical steel plant in Aurangabad with an investment of 840 INR-Crore and an annual production capacity of 64,000 Tonnes. Officials stated that some projects have already acquired land, while one project has become operational.

The Maharashtra high-tech sector projects will strengthen manufacturing infrastructure across renewable energy and advanced materials sectors. Additionally, the developments are expected to support industrial infrastructure expansion and employment generation across Vidarbha, Marathwada and Nashik regions.
