Indian Railways has approved the rail doubling of the Adipur–Bhuj section of Western Railway in Gujarat at a cost of an estimated 493 INR-Crore. The initiative includes doubling, tripling and other network enhancement works across the rail system. The approved section lies on the Gandhidham–Naliya corridor and currently operates as a single-line route.

The project will add a second rail line on the 49 Km Adipur–Bhuj section. Additionally, the route connects with several railway projects currently under execution in the region. These include the Bhuj–Naliya gauge conversion and new railway lines connecting Naliya–Jakhau, Vayor–Lakhpat and Deshalpar–Luna. The Ministry of Railways expects the project to facilitate two additional passenger train services in each direction every day. The doubled line will also support the movement of an additional 12 MTPA of freight traffic.

The Adipur–Bhuj rail doubling project is expected to strengthen freight and passenger connectivity in western Gujarat. Indian Railways has projected line capacity utilisation on the section to reach 123 per cent by 2029–30. Therefore, the doubling work will help reduce congestion and improve operational reliability. The project is also expected to support economic activity across the Kutch region.
