Elevate Campuses, IIT Madras partner for 400 INR-Crore student housing project

Elevate Campuses, backed by Alta Capital, has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to develop a student accommodation project in Chennai. The project carries an estimated investment of 400 INR-Crore and will be developed on an anticipated 3.5-Acre land parcel within the institute’s campus. The development will be executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Elevate Campuses will develop and operate the facility for a concession period of 30 years.

The IIT Madras student housing project will accommodate more than 1,800 PhD scholars and project staff. The development will comprise fully furnished residential blocks, study areas, recreation spaces, sports facilities, and student support infrastructure. Additionally, the project will include security, medical assistance, and counselling facilities. Under the agreement, IIT Madras will provide the land, while Elevate Campuses will finance, develop, maintain, and operate the project.

The IIT Madras student housing project will become one of the institute’s largest accommodation developments. Furthermore, the project will expand on-campus residential capacity for research scholars and project personnel. The development also highlights the growing adoption of PPP models for higher education infrastructure and purpose-built student housing assets in India.
