Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commenced work on an 800 MW renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh. The company held the groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Thursday. The development involves an estimated investment of 5,750 INR-Crore. The project is being implemented under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy.
The project comprises 400 MW of wind power at Kanekal in Anantapur district and 400 MW of solar power at Pattikonda in Kurnool district. TPREL will develop the wind project, while Suzlon will execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work for the wind component. Additionally, 200 MW will be developed as a firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project for NTPC. The FDRE facility will include a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 25 MW/50 MWh. The remaining 200 MW of solar capacity is available for future allocation. Further, the project has secured 800 MW of interstate transmission system connectivity through the Anantapur-II and Kurnool-IV Central Transmission Utility substations. The development will require an anticipated 3,460 Acres of land. Which includes 2,700 Acres for the solar project and 760 Acres for the wind project.

The Andhra Pradesh renewable energy project will strengthen the state’s clean energy infrastructure. Additionally, it will support efficient power evacuation through the national transmission network. The project will generate nearly 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities during development, construction, and operations.
