The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has floated a tender worth an estimated 1,083.14 INR-Crore for the construction of General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. The tender follows the Union Cabinet‘s approval of the project in June 2026. The Amaravati Government housing project will provide 1,504 residential units for central government employees. The project is scheduled for completion within 28 months.
The project will be developed on an anticipated 17-Acre campus with a built-up area of approximately 3.13 Million-SqFt. It will comprise 11 residential towers housing 600 Type-II, 600 Type-III, 228 Type-IV, 56 Type-V and 20 Type-VI units. Additionally, the development will include an ancillary building, a common double basement, a sewage treatment plant, electrical substations and other supporting infrastructure. The campus will also feature 1,972 equivalent car parking spaces, a guest house, crèche, bank, post office and shopping complex.

The Amaravati government housing project will establish permanent residential infrastructure for central government employees in the state’s new capital. Furthermore, the development will strengthen the administrative ecosystem by creating integrated residential and community facilities. The project also adds to the ongoing infrastructure development in Amaravati.
