The Center has granted administrative and technical approval worth an estimated 1,663.15 INR-Crore for the first phase of the Kollam-Theni NH project in Kerala. The approval covers a 54.37 Km stretch between Kadavoor Bypass Junction in Kollam and Anjilimoodu near Chengannur. The project will be executed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model. Authorities have set a completion timeline of 24 months.
The Kollam-Theni NH project will develop the corridor into a four-lane national highway with a width of 20 M. The approved cost includes an estimated 689.20 INR-Crore for civil works, 331.64 INR-Crore for land acquisition and related procedures, and 394.19 INR-Crore for demolition and compensation. The scope comprises three major bridges, six minor bridges, 103 culverts, one railway overbridge and two vehicle underpasses. Additionally, the project includes 48 bus bays and an 88.81 Km drainage network. Authorities will also install crash barriers, modern signboards, solar LED blinkers, median mast lights and high-mast lights. The project further covers the upgrade of 16 major junctions and 18 smaller junctions along the corridor.

The Kollam-Theni NH project is expected to improve regional connectivity and freight movement across central Travancore. The upgraded corridor will reduce travel time between key towns and support commercial transportation. Furthermore, the highway will strengthen trade, industrial and logistics activity across the Kollam and Chengannur regions.
