Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) has proposed a 58 Km metro network for Nashik city. The network carries an estimated cost of 14,520 INR-Crore. Maha Metro has included the proposal in the draft Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Nashik. The proposed Nashik Metro network will be developed in 2 phases.
Under Phase I, Maha Metro has proposed 2 metro corridors spanning around 35 Km. The first corridor will connect Gangapur village with Nashik Road over 21.5 Km. The second will further connect Mumbai Naka with Pathardi Phata over 13.58 Km. Together, these corridors will cost an estimated 8,770 INR-Crore. Maha Metro has also proposed implementation of the Gangapur village-Nashik Road corridor by 2031. It has targeted the Mumbai Naka-Pathardi Phata corridor for completion by 2036. Meanwhile, Phase II will cover a 23 Km corridor between Ambad and Nashik Airport. The corridor carries an estimated cost of 5,750 INR-Crore and is proposed for implementation by 2046.

The proposed Nashik Metro network will support the city’s mass transit requirements over the next 2 decades. According to Maha Metro estimates, each Phase I corridor could handle nearly 11,000 passengers per hour during peak periods. However, Maha Metro will take a final decision after statutory procedures, stakeholder consultations and detailed feasibility assessments. The final CMP is expected to incorporate updated population and travel demand data.
