The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved road infrastructure projects worth over 31,000 INR-Crore across the state. The approvals include upgrades for around 1,500 Km of major roads and up to 6,000 Km of rural roads under multiple state-backed programmes.
Under the Maharashtra Road Improvement Project, the state will receive financial assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the New Development Bank (NDB). Both institutions will provide 1 US$-Billion each in two phases, taking the total programme cost to around 24,884 INR-Crore. In the first phase, the government will upgrade around 1,500 Km of roads over a three-year period. This includes 750 Km under AIIB funding and 750 Km under NDB funding. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved 6,429 INR-Crore for Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase III. The programme will cover around 3,500 Km of rural roads and bridges with AIIB assistance. The state has also approved an additional 2,500 Km of rural roads through state funding.

Once completed, these Maharashtra road projects are expected to improve regional and rural connectivity across the state. The developments will also strengthen access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities while supporting transportation efficiency for agricultural and commercial movement.
