NHAI develops 343.24 Km Bengaluru-Vijayawada corridor project; cost at 5,378 INR-Crore

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is developing the Bengaluru-Vijayawada corridor project under NH-544G. The six-lane access-controlled greenfield highway project involves an estimated investment of 5,378 INR-Crore. The corridor spans an anticipated 343.24 Km across Andhra Pradesh and is expected to reduce travel distance between Bengaluru and Vijayawada by 110 Km.

The corridor will connect NH-44 and NH-16 through five districts, including Sri Sathya Sai, YSR Kadapa, SPSR Nellore, Prakasam, and Bapatla. The project includes both greenfield and brownfield highway sections. It has been divided into 14 construction packages, with work currently underway. Additionally, the corridor will feature an Advanced Traffic Management System and a closed tolling system. Kadapa district alone will include seven interchanges and four wayside amenities comprising fuel stations, restaurants, parking areas, and public utility infrastructure. The project will also provide direct connectivity to the Hindupuram and Kopparthi industrial nodes.

Once completed, the Kerala high-speed rail corridor will significantly reduce intercity travel time and improve regional connectivity across the state. The project is will strengthen multimodal transportation links by connecting major urban centers and airport infrastructure.
