The Government of Odisha has accelerated land acquisition for the railway projects, covering four new rail corridors across the state. Authorities are coordinating with Indian Railways to fast-track implementation. The projects aim to improve regional connectivity and reduce execution delays.
The four projects include the Jeypore–Malkangiri railway line, the Gunupur–Theruvali line doubling, the Nuapada–Gunupur new line, and the Bansapani–Barbil third line. The Jeypore–Malkangiri line spans around 130 Km with an estimated investment of 3,200 INR-Crore. The Nuapada–Gunupur line covers approximately 164 Km with a cost of an estimated 2,600 INR-Crore. Additionally, the Gunupur–Theruvali doubling project will cover about 73 Km with an estimated investment of 1,165 INR-Crore, while the Bansapani–Barbil third line will strengthen capacity on an existing mineral corridor. These projects collectively form a major part of the state’s railway expansion plan.
