Brahmaputra Infrastructure Limited (BIL), in a joint venture with HBMCPL, has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a railway infrastructure project awarded by Northeast Frontier Railway Construction (NFR-CONST). The contract is valued at an estimated 137.60 INR-Crore. The project forms part of the proposed Kokrajhar–Gelephu cross-border railway corridor. According to the company, the contract will be executed over a period of two years.
The Hybrid EPC contract includes earthwork in formation and cutting, blanketing, and the construction of RCC boxes, RCC and PCC drains, retaining walls, toe walls, nine minor bridges, and one Road Over Bridge (ROB). Additionally, the scope covers railway electrification works, including the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of Overhead Equipment (OHE), electrical works, and signalling and telecom systems. The project covers the section from Kokrajhar station (excluding) to CH-4.100 and from Salakati station (excluding) to CH-0.400. This section forms the starting stretch of the proposed 69 Km Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway corridor.

The Northeast Frontier Railway project will strengthen cross-border rail connectivity between India and Bhutan. Furthermore, the project marks the BIL-HBMCPL joint venture’s first contract on the Kokrajhar–Gelephu corridor. The early award will also support future participation in additional project packages as the railway corridor progresses.
