Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) will invest an estimated 27,000 INR-Crore to build a greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Dighi, Maharashtra. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra Ltd (NSHIPML) for the project. The shipbuilding cluster will be jointly developed by the Maharashtra Maritime Board and Mumbai Port Authority through NSHIPML.
As per the agreement, MDL aims to achieve an annual shipbuilding capacity of approximately 2 Million Gross Tonnes at the proposed facility. The project will include modern shipbuilding infrastructure as well as an industrial and supply-chain ecosystem. Additionally, it will enable the development of a wider maritime manufacturing and supply-chain ecosystem in Maharashtra.

MDL will add large-scale industrial infrastructure in Dighi, expanding Maharashtra’s maritime development pipeline. The greenfield facility will strengthen the state’s shipbuilding ecosystem through expanded production capacity and supporting manufacturing infrastructure.
