Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu virtually laid the foundation stones for 16 development projects in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). These development projects are worth an estimated 3,892 INR-Crore.
The major projects include a 24/7 drinking water supply system for Madhurawada, East Zone, and the surrounding areas. This project will cost an estimated 725.18 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, an estimated amount of 117.24 INR-Crore will be used to modernize existing bulk and semi-bulk water supply connections. These connections will be upgraded under the GVMC with advanced metering, automation, and SCADA systems.
Additionally, the project will include a dedicated industrial water supply pipeline along the Port Road from Narava Water Treatment Plant to HPCL and other industries. The water supply pipeline is estimated at 150 INR-Crore.

Visakhapatnam development projects also comprise five drinking water supply and two sewerage works. Both the projects are estimated to be 400 INR-Crore under AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation). Moreover, the NRW reduction and 24/7 drinking water supply system in the GVMC will cost an estimated 446 INR-Crore. Furthermore, a comprehensive sewerage system in Madhurawada Zone-II will cost nearly 658.61 INR-Crore.
Of all the approved projects, GVMC would execute projects worth 3,531.47 INR-Crore, while VMRDA would undertake works estimated at 369.49 INR-Crore. The government has targeted to complete the projects within 18 months.
